Welcome to the Children and Youth Community Planning Table website

This website provides resources for children, youth, their parents, educators and service providers in the county of Haliburton, located in central east Ontario, Canada.

Local agencies, services and school boards are working together on the Community Planning Table to build an integrated continuum of child and youth services, to make the best possible use of scarce resources, and to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of programs across the continuum of services.  The community as a whole is committed to delivering responsive and accessible services to the children and families in Haliburton County.

One of the purposes of this Community Planning Table is to provide advice, consultation and planning expertise in the development, implementation and monitoring of child and youth services and programs in Haliburton County.

What is the Community Planning Table?
  • partners on the CPT are representatives from local agencies, services, programs, school boards and organizations that provide direct service to children and/or youth in Haliburton County or the city of Kawartha Lakes 

  • in order to enable a full range of partner agencies who serve the prenatal to 18 year old age group (infants, toddlers, preschool-age, children, and youth) to meet as a single planning table, our local Children's Planning Committee (0 to 6 year olds) merged with the local Youth Planning Table to become the Children and Youth Community Planning Table (0 to 18 year olds).

  • one representative from each member agency meets at the CPT's monthly meetings, usually in Lindsay, ON, with teleconferencing available

  • the Data Analysis Coordinator (DAC) from our local Ontario Early Years Centre provides data and research support to the CPT

  • our purpose is to provide leadership in the collaborative planning, development, implementation and monitoring of services and programs for children, youth and families in Haliburton County and the city of Kawartha Lakes 

  • our vision is 'A community of happy, healthy children and families'
 
What does the Community Planning Table do?
  • we work collaboratively and strive to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of each service delivery component

  • Specific goals include:

    • To build an integrated continuum of child and youth services

    • To increase service coordination, communication and working relations among all stakeholders

    • To enhance partnerships among service providers of child and youth services

    • To achieve the best possible use of scarce resourcesthe CPT partner agencies and school boards are working together to build an integrated continuum of child and youth services in order to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of programs across the continuum of services

  • the CPT engages in operational planning by applying service data and the results of evidence-based interventions to identify local needs and gaps in services 

  • we also serve as an advisory and planning body to representatives from the Ontario government, local muncipal governments, regional planning bodies and the community with regard to policy, programs and services for local children, youth and families

  • we advocate effectively on behalf of the children and families in Haliburton County.

  • By building on strengths and sharing resources to achieve these goals, the system will endeavour to improve the capacity and quality of chld and youth services in Haliburton County.

  • the Community Planning Table:

    • has established shared-goals;

    • participates in service system evaluation to enhance service quality, volumes, and capacity at the system level;

    • develops protocols and letters of agreement where appropriate;

    • annually reviews planning table performance, governance and structure, and; 

    • encourages and promotes parent and youth engagement in service delivery.

      4. Quality: We plan for quality services that are responsive and accountable to children, youth and families.

      5. Holistic, Strength-based Approach: We plan services that build on strengths and address all aspects of an individual/family service.

 
Goals of the Community Planning Table

      1. Build an integrated system of services.

      2. Work collectively together to identify and collaboratively address service system gaps and duplication.

      3. Work together to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of programs across the services system.

      4. Increase partnerships among service providers.

      5. Facilitate responsive and accessible services to children and youth and their families in Haliburton County and the city of Kawartha Lakes.

      6. Advocate effectively on behalf of and with children, youth and families in Haliburton County and the city of Kawartha Lakes.
